Gallery - Reinstatement of railings to town house in Primrose Hill
Although tall, the railings are are in perfect proportion to the tall narrow house
Bearing in mind the small size of the front garden, it might have been tempting to shorten the railings we reinstated to this property. Good practice relating to the reinstatement of historical ironwork dictates, however, that the intentions of the original architect/builder should not be ignored. As a consequence, we used the evidence of the original ironwork to establish the finished height of the railings. It is clear that even without computer modelling the original builder had a very keen eye for proportion as that height is absoutely perfect.
