Gallery - Replica decorative crest for Six Hills Church
This church crest replaces the original which was completely beyond repair
Anwick Forge worked in consultation with English Heritage on the creation of this magnificent replica church crest that stands nearly two metres tall and nearly three metres long.
This replica church crest was produced using a range of ancient and modern techniques. Although many of its componenets were originally in cast iron, it was prohibitively expensive to have the replica components cast. The English Heritage representative with whom we consulted was happy to accept our proposal to forge the scrolls that had originally been cast and to have the circular motifs laser cut rather than cast. The whole piece was hot-dip galvanised before being painted with a specialist paint, leaving it extremely well prepared to deal with at least another couple of centuries wind and weather on the roof of the church in Six Hills, which is one of Lincolnshire's highest points (yes, there are some hills in Lincolnshire!).
