Anwick Forge was commisioned by the local parish council to reinstate the gates and railings to the War Memorial located in the centre of  Tattershall's historical Market Place.  It was thought that in common with other historical ironwork around the country, they were sacrificed to 'the war effort'.

Photographic records and ironwork dating from the same period elsewhere in the Market Place gave strong clues as to the nature of the gates and railings required, so our blacksmiths forged these overlapping hoop top railings with matchung gates, which were very typical of the period and very common in the area.

Although very close to the original in design, some changes were made to the gates in order to cater for 21st century needs: their design has been adapted to allow easy access for wheelchair users.

All the work was carried out in consultation with - and to the full satisfaction of - the District Council's Conservation Officer
