Gallery - Coat of arms in forged stainless steel
The brilliant shine on electro-polished stainless steel really makes a statement
This magnificent coat of arms in hand forged in stainless steel was especially commissioned for the front of the new Chancellor's Centre at Cambridge University's Wolfson College.
The coat of arms (the design for which was derived from a four inch square slide) consists of sixty eight separate components, weighs approximately 100kg, measures 1.5m by 1.7m - and is mounted some 5m above the ground. It took two of our blacksmiths working on it full time for a month to complete. Despite the extremely tight deadline we were set by the architect, the completed piece was installed on budget and on time - ready for the grand opening of the building by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, at which Anwick Forge was honoured to be represented.
